On Monday the club held its AGM for the 2025 season.
Matt McCubbin was re-elected as Senior President for the 18th consecutive year whilst Kristy Sanbrook returns to lead our Junior Club.
The Senior executive will consist of Matt McCubbin (President), Kristy Sanbrook (Jnr President),Tim Ross (Snr Vice President), Glenn Newnham (Secretary) and Craig Giles (Treasurer).
The general committee from 2025 was re-elected with the additions of Tim Ross and Scott Carter who will bring fresh voices at board level.
The club would like to acknowledge Luke Smith, who has stepped down from the role of Vice President, while remaining an active and valued member of the committee.
Luke has been an exceptionally loyal and supportive Vice President for many years. His guidance and steady presence have been instrumental through both our most successful periods and our more challenging times.
While Luke could comfortably continue in the role, we remain committed to refreshing and evolving our committee structure to ensure continued growth and innovation.
We thank our committee for their continued time and dedication to the Mitcham Football Club and wish Tim and Scott all the best in their new roles at the club.
Matt went on to say that ” while the club was naturally disappointed with its on-field results — managing just one senior win in Premier Division — reflection tells a deeper story “
Our return to the top flight last season didn’t deliver the wins we’d hoped for at senior level, but the margins show just how close we truly were. Tough losses by 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3 and even a single point didn’t help our ladder position — but they did strengthen our resolve, belief, and hunger as a playing group and as a club.
Importantly, off the field we continue to maintain a strong and healthy financial position, thanks largely to the generosity of our loyal sponsors and members, along with our proven ability to host Eastern Football Netball League finals to an exceptionally high standard. That stability gives us a powerful platform to build from.
Season 2026 presents a whole new raft of challenges as old rivalries are renewed and standards rise again. One thing is certain — success won’t be given, it will need to be earned, and we’re ready for that fight.
